Celeste Poole Staff in hand, the young demigod surveyed the shaking wall. Stones fell and the walls crashed, the occaissional stream of lava oozing from the side like blood from a wound. But as Celeste looked up, she felt no fear. None at all. In fact, she was amused. The line in front of her was slowly dwindling as hero after hero failed to climb it heights. Turning to her nearest neighbor, she shifted her staff and asked, "You ever made it to the top?"

Rebeka White Daughter of Athena "Sadly no, but I've been trying to calculate the best way up." Said the blonde figure. "There isn't any specific pattern that I've figured out yet." Rebeka studied the wall, frowning. Was there a pattern, or was she just to ignorant to see it? As a daughter of Athena, she knew that brains were important, but for this specific task it seemed useless. This was all about speed and reflexes. "Have you?" She looked at the girl, with a raised eyebrow.

Celeste Poole Celeste smiled faintly, perhaps she'd keep her little secret for the moment. "Believe it or not, this is my first time. I guess I never thought the wall was worth it before." No, it wasn't worth it. She'd been very priveleged as a child, had gotten to do some amazing rockclimbs, and thanks to her...abilities...this wall shouldn't be much different. Today though she had finally decided to do something she'd enjoy rather than something she needed to practice. "No, I don't think there's a pattern...You wanna race to the top?"

Rebeka White Daughter of Athena "Okay, why not." Rebeka said. There seemed to be a trace of confidence in the other girls voice. Rebeka doubted herself. She hadn't tried all that much the previous attempts so maybe today was the day she could complete it. "Nothing like a good competition to almost get you killed or humiliated." She muttered under her breath. She was smart, and had enough skill with a blade. Yet scaling a large, deadly rock seemed an impossible task for the daughter of Athena.

Celeste Poole Practically skipping, Celeste made her way lithely over to the wall. As she adjusted her hands on the rocks and set her feet for the climb, Celeste looked to her right to make sure her companion was ready as well. Oh, she was ready for this. Out of practice certainly, but oh so ready. Maybe I'll even give her a head start.
"Hey! You ready?"

Rebeka White Daughter of Athena Rebeka steped up next to her. She found hand holds and one foot hold. "As I'll ever be." She sighed as the rock shook under her hands. The scenario played in her head of her falling and breaking a limb. Or worse. But she tried to push that out of her head and focus on reaching the top. She waited for the other girl to say when to go.

Celeste Poole For the briefest moment, the thought of letting the other girl have a head start passed throuch Celeste's mind, and then it was gone. Confident as she was, she wanted to win this. As she swung her staff over her back, Celeste called out, "Ready? Set...GO!" And just like that she was scrambling up the wall. So far, everything was going perfectly. The wall's shaking seemed to quell at her very touch, as if subdued by only her prescence. As she began to strain to find her footholds and climb faster, she also began to will the wall to act milder. And it did. On her side, the lava crept back into the wall like an ashamed child. The rocks stopped falling. It was too easy...

Rebeka White Daughter of Athena Rebeka heaved herself up. She scowled and yanked her hand out of the way of a stream of lava. It wasn't shaking as much as she thought. She looked up at her competitor. She was far above her. She pulled herself up farther. Her right foothold crumbled under her weight. She let out a small squeal and nearly lost her grip. But she didn't fall. She continued to climb, a good couple yards behind the other girl. She cursed under her breath but continued upwards.

Celeste Poole Celeste continued to scamper effortlessly up the wall. It was slowly quieting; her prescence was its lullaby. The streams of lava crept meekly back into their sources, and the wall shivered with a low hum, more like the buzzing of bees or the puttering of an old car than a deadly earthquake. She giggled happily at the familiar sensations, enjoying every second of the excruciating effort that was rockclimbing. Finally feeling that she had nearly reached the top, Celeste pulled herself upward with a mighty heave and swung onto her feet. She landed on a hair thin little ledge about three yards from the top of the wall, but with Celeste's balance it was a pleasant place to pause and survey her competitor. What Celeste saw worried her. The girl was struggling. She was actually doing quite well compared to most demigods, but then, most demigods never reached the top. And the other girl's wall was beginning to shudder. The walls would smash soon. She didn't want to sound like she was gloating, but Celeste thought the other girl might be running out of time. Her face flooded with concern, Celeste yelled down to the girl below her, "You need help?"

Rebeka White Daughter of Athena Help? Though her pride said no, her more sensabile side said yes. Rebeka had a death grip on the wall, though it was shaking harder. Things were getting dangerous. "Uh, okay. But how exactly can you help me?" She asked, a slightly skeptical look on her face.
